Do the right things, Do all things right, And have the right person doing them.
Our organization is committed to uplifting the standards of dentistry in the country to stand at par with global criteria by focusing on Education, Research and Oral Health Care.
The Institute of Advance Dental Sciences & Research (IADSR) was established in 2000 as an Association of Persons registered under companies and societies registration act, Government of the Punjab, Pakistan.
Our core group members have been instrumental in revision of national BDS curriculum; introduction of postgraduate programs in five universities; and introducing research culture in the country. The core members have won research grants of over 25 million rupees; sit on editorial boards of all major dental journals of the country; and have over 150 publications to their credit. One of our focus has been on provision of universal oral health for the underprivileged in the country; we have conducted almost two dozen projects with national and international organisations primarily focused on provision of primary oral health care which also included Situation Analysis of the Oral Health Sector of Pakistan in 2004/5 conducted in collaboration with World Health Organisation.
The stage was now set for IADSR to take the front seat and we launched IADSR in the national arena as an independent organisation with our first international dental conference in 2011. The theme of the conference “Dentistry in the Era of Globalisation: Education, Research and Oral Health Care” was set to match with our commitment. Our focus now was on capacity building of the young dental force of the country in all three components through provision of professional development opportunities to the practicing clinicians and fresh graduates.
Today, IADSR is the leading dental organisations in Pakistan and is recognised as the fastest growing organiser of academic meetings in the nation. During the last eight years IADSR has been responsible for organising 30 very successful events to include seven international conferences; and 23 symposia and seminars. Our international conferences over have attracted over 6500 participants (which is almost one third of the total dental community in the country); and all other academic events organised by us have exceeded expected participation. As a collaborating partner we have also contributed in nationwide events such as the World Oral Health Day and symposia organised by other organisation including the Pakistan Dental Association.
In 2014, IADSR established a state-of-art training center to cater for 15 trainees at a time and initiated structured short (3-12 months; 2-4 sessions/month) courses in Advance General Dentistry; Advance Endodontics; Periodontics; and Research Methodologies. These courses are accredited by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and approved by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) for CDE hours. We invite top clinicians and academicians from around the country and internationally to conduct these courses – each module of which has didactic and hands-on sessions. The students are assisted and facilitated to submit case reports on patients related to each module. This year we have designed but not yet launched short courses in Pediatric Dentistry, Endodontics; Fixed Prosthesis; Cosmetic Dentistry; and Minor Oral Surgery.
